Our whole-brain development program builds foundational techniques that make learning math effortless and enjoyable. By mastering these techniques using the Abacus, students develop the ability to think in pictures and quickly learn to perform large calculations mentally.
Over time, our students come to love a subject they may have once struggled with, or even feared. Attaining astonishing calculation speed is actually the end-result of increasing the “brain-fitness.” Whilst it demands self-discipline it promotes the joy of lifelong learning and self-discovery. To succeed takes practice and commitment from the student, plus active support from the family. But the payoff is worth it.
What we do
We introduce students to tactile learning while they manipulate the beads of a abacus (Suanpan) with their hands to perform math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Students are taught how to visualize a “mental abacus”, enabling them to perform math calculations in their minds (Xinsuan) without the assistance of a physical abacus.
Our Abacus program improves maths skills and promotes whole brain thinking through: .
Thinking in Pictures
Students boost their memory power through visualisation by holding numbers in their mind while handling the physical or mental Abacus.
A Flash of Brilliance
Students create a mental image of the beads on their mental Abacus with the help of flash cards.
The Need for Speed
Speed training encourages children to listen attentively and respond to questions quickly, thereby sharpening their focus and concentration.
Our students learn techniques in Mental Maths that will stay with them long after they’ve completed the program.
